In this section, I examine the AK Party’s family policies and discourses in detail. To fully understand the intergenerational transformation of familial imaginaries, ideals, and practices, it is necessary to analyze the political narratives and policy frameworks that both shape and respond to these shifts. As the dominant political actor in Turkey for more than two decades, the AK Party has played a central role in influencing family structures, gender roles, and broader social norms. This chapter focuses specifically on the party’s policies and rhetoric to contextualize how its governance has intersected with—and contributed to—changing familial values and practices. Recognizing this relationship offers a critical perspective for interpreting the wider societal transformations explored throughout this thesis.
