Corona Debate: Interactions Between Institution, Identity and Society. The Question of Truth as a Concept of Survival
摘要
Destabilised individuals with insecure identities lose their operational distance from institutions and seek excessive support in them by identifying with them uncritically. It is of central importance here to keep in mind that identity development and institutional development are intertwined. What is being portrayed politically in Europe in the context of the coronavirus crisis as a crisis of institutions and the regulations to be implemented with them is in reality a crisis of identities and values. Societies that are unaware of this danger slip more or less helplessly into the destructive process. We therefore need to become aware of the danger of the distortion of the question of truth through the homogenisation of opinions. The question of survival, as becomes clear in the crisis and post-critically in the border situation, is linked to the question of truth. Only by demanding transparency and accountability from politicians and institutions as citizens with clear individual values we can find a new political honesty as a result, perhaps the most crucial result of the coronavirus pandemic debate.
