This chapter synthesizes and discusses the findings from the qualitative design research study and the subsequent randomized controlled trial in relation to current research across multiple fields. It highlights the methodological value of the design research specification approach, which integrates content-related design research with scaffolding analysis. Furthermore, higher-order conclusions are drawn that connect insights from both studies. The chapter concludes by examining the studies’ limitations, outlining implications for future research on conceptual learning with digital media, and discussing consequences for classroom practice and teacher professional development.
