Before embarking on the research topic, the researcher studied the research philosophies, strategies, and methodologies and selected the ones most aligned with the research questions (see subchapter 1.4 in the first chapter) while considering the external limitations. A qualitative inquiry and a grounded theory (constructivist) research strategy were found to fit well with the research question.
