After learning the basics of inferential statistics in the previous chapter, we now apply them for the first time. We begin with a discussion of hypotheses and the difference between stochastic and deterministic hypotheses. We learn the fundamental role of a theory in statistics. Finally, we test our first hypothesis with the one-sample t-test.
