This study investigated stress responses in individuals with burnout symptoms using data from the Regensburg Burnout Project. 55 participants meeting strict inclusion criteria completed psychological assessments and underwent the ScanSTRESS paradigm during fMRI. Salivary cortisol was repeatedly sampled to capture hormonal stress reactivity. Neuroimaging analyses focused on activity and connectivity in the amygdala and hippocampus. The design allowed examination of sex-specific differences in neural and hormonal responses to psychosocial stress in burnout.
