Elaboration of Specific Automotive AM-Potential Applications
摘要
This chapter shifts the focus of this thesis from the complete vehicle level down to specific AM applications. This change in focus enables tangible studies on different challenges in this context (compare Sec. 1.4). These challenges address different aspects of increased development complexity occurring when optimizing designs to leverage AM design and manufacturing freedom. Here, two major development challenges relevant to each AM application area in VC are covered. First, based on the toolless characteristic of AM processes, Subsec. 4.1 addresses variant complexity elaborating on how to develop mass-individualized vehicle components. Second, in Subsec. 4.2, challenges regarding the development of functionally complex components are analyzed, that result when taking advantage of the interdisciplinary characteristic of DfAM-related functional integration potential.
