The significance of my research lies in its contribution to the augmentation of knowledge concerning the CSR work in sports through an exploration of the organisations UEFA, DFB and RFX, and in the provision of recommendations for successful CSR practice in football associations. Whilst the extant literature has concentrated on the level of the club, this study is distinctive in that its focus is directed towards football associations at regional, national and international levels. To date, research into the regional level has been limited, with this thesis addressing that gap.
