This chapter contains theoretical and methodological considerations on the potential of systemic counseling as an approach to distancing and exit support for the social environment of people undergoing radicalization processes. This is demonstrated by a case study in which both a young person and her parents were counseled together and separately. As a methodological basis, group discussions and specifically prepared case documentation with and by counselors who work nationwide in tertiary prevention at civil society institutions are used. The results show that systemic counseling approaches are suitable for distancing and exit support. This can be seen, among other things, in the resource orientation, the low threshold and the activation of actors from different social contexts (systems). In addition, the extended possibilities of access to the clients are helpful, since systemic counseling also works through relationships: so, it is not only possible to work directly with the primary affected person; the counseling can also function indirectly through the secondary affected person through existing or newly established relationships. Further foci are on the goals of counseling, the limits and challenges as well as on practical insights from counseling practice.

摘要
