The question of whether gender plays a role in deradicalization work forms the core of this contribution. In recent years, the importance of gender-sensitive approaches has gained recognition in both research and deradicalization efforts. With this in mind, we explore the radicalization processes of both men and women in Germany. First, we analyze aspects such as motivation, contact-seeking, actions, roles, and recruitment to identify potential gender-specific differences. Second, valuable insights from a qualitative survey of practitioners in deradicalization work revealed that gender-sensitive awareness is indeed present in practice. However, this sensitivity is often applied intuitively and primarily during individual counseling, meaning that a gender-sensitive approach is not yet systematically integrated, nor explicitly emphasized. Nonetheless, the results suggest that incorporating gender considerations into existing programs can contribute to the development of more holistic services.
