Despite pointing out the multidimensional structure of the concept, the general conceptualization developed in Chap. 7 does not yet contain details on the dimensions of electoral integrity and does not provide information on which dimensions are especially important from citizens’ perspective. Therefore, Chap. 8 will now relate the general conceptualization of electoral integrity to the idea of an electoral cycle. Thereby, it becomes possible to account for the multidimensional nature of electoral integrity and to deduct a conceptualization that specifically captures citizens’ perceptions of electoral integrity comprehensively.
