The research interest of the empirical study in this work lies in exploring students’ everyday conceptions regarding society’s relationship with animals. Before presenting the results of the field of everyday conceptions about the human–animal relationship—which is newly being explored for citizenship education—in the following chapter, this chapter will first provide a detailed description of the qualitative research design (justification, epistemological framework, quality criteria, research sample, research ethics) and the methodological approach (data collection and analysis) in order to make the research process transparent.
