The construction industry is currently undergoing transformation and is confronted with challenges such as decreasing availability of raw materials, increasing price volatility, and rising cost pressures. This highlights the necessity of a stronger focus on improving efficiency. In this context, digitalization and industrialization are becoming increasingly relevant. The traditional understanding of production as transformation is giving way to a process-oriented approach. Lean production in the construction industry - Lean Construction (LC) - is the central theme. In this context, value creation on the construction site is increasingly becoming the focus of research and practice. At the beginning of the chapter, the dissertation’s research problem is explained and the objectives are presented. This is followed by an explanation of the methodology and the structure of the thesis.
