With the help of two empirical studies, the present work first aimed to determine the extent to which a democracy-building learning format could contribute to fostering the individual prerequisites for political participation among young people. In a second step, the study examined the extent to which democracy-related meaning-making processes were promoted that addressed feelings of powerlessness and the perceived disconnect between the political system and one’s own lived reality. The aim was to enable participants to engage in meaning-making processes regarding democracy and, at the same time, to promote specific political attitudes and beliefs.

摘要

With the help of two empirical studies, the present work first aimed to determine the extent to which a democracy-building learning format could contribute to fostering the individual prerequisites for political participation among young people. In a second step, the study examined the extent to which democracy-related meaning-making processes were promoted that addressed feelings of powerlessness and the perceived disconnect between the political system and one’s own lived reality. The aim was to enable participants to engage in meaning-making processes regarding democracy and, at the same time, to promote specific political attitudes and beliefs.
