The photographs taken by the visitors I spoke with on site are mainly used to create a memory for the visitor and/or communicate with specific friends or family-members—mostly in one-to-one communication. However, there were also a few individuals who shared their photographs to a social media platform with a broader audience in mind. Because sharing travel photographs online, especially on Instagram, can be part of a visitor’s site-experience, I wanted to know what images they share and how they talk about the site and their visit.
