Interim Summary: The Theory at a Glance
摘要
This chapter summarizes the theoretical model developed in the previous chapters in its essential elements. The relevance of the contradiction-assemblage model lies in the premise that contradictions of interests and expectations are central and extremely heterogeneous societal phenomena that play an existential role for organizations. Such phenomena can be captured for the first time in general social science with the contradiction-assemblage model. Organizations are often confronted with both external and internal contradictions of interests and expectations, which act as powerful centrifugal forces and can threaten the continued existence of organizations. Communication plays a central role in the emergence and resolution of contradictions, as well as in the organizational handling of contradictions and the resulting tensions.
