This contribution considers how affective economies and investments are very much a part of knowledge production politics in Gender Studies perspectives. Implementing the tropes of the feminist killjoy (Ahmed) and the godtrick (Haraway), two anniversary conferences celebrating intersectionality theory in German higher education contexts will be revisited. In this archival work, I consider how the affect of (un)happiness is constitutive of the critical epistemic negotiations – for white and non-white German scholars in the transdisciplinary field of Gender Studies. In this endeavor, I align the epistemic stance of the feminist killjoy with the critical affective economies generated by Black feminist and feminist of color scholarships, which disrupt hegemonic narratives operationalizing the godtrick in order to maintain a fiction of post-raciality.
