This chapter deals with the continuum mechanical principles of bars and various beams. For bars, a distinction is made between tensile, compressive and torsional loading. The beam theories according to Euler-Bernoulli, Timoshenko and Levinson are then discussed. The chapter closes with a brief description of the equivalent stress hypotheses according to von Mises and Tresca.

摘要

This chapter deals with the continuum mechanical principles of bars and various beams. For bars, a distinction is made between tensile, compressive and torsional loading. The beam theories according to Euler-Bernoulli, Timoshenko and Levinson are then discussed. The chapter closes with a brief description of the equivalent stress hypotheses according to von Mises and Tresca.
