What is the future of the tense relationship between participation processes in police work? For successful integration into everyday police work, the police officials of a station must grant a vote of confidence to the citizens and discourse participants and, within the bounds of what is legally possible, also open up room for action. The further development of police organizational culture and the reflection on what good police work looks like in the 21st century will have to be measured by how well it manages to accompany new (in)security situations, such as increasingly strong societal negotiation processes about the future, and to reconcile changes with a vibrant culture of participation in police design processes of their own guiding principle of a “learning organization” . This is followed by 13 basic rules as practical guidance for communication and participation in police work.
