Liebherr Hydrogen System and Control Development
摘要
The hydrogen combustion engine is qualified by the European Union as a zero CO2 powertrain. This emphasizes our development approach for hydrogen fuel injection systems. This paper will follow up on the previous publications on the Liebherr port fuel injection (PFI) and direct injection (DI) system platforms for hydrogen and its derivates like Ammonia and Methanol. Liebherr’s DI and PFI system layout and its components are based on a common design concept and platform to benefit from synergies in the product design. An overview of the current status of the improved system layout design will be shown. Main key aspects of the system design like safety architecture, pressure regulation performance (accuracy and dynamic behavior) and integrated product design are discussed and described. Latest functional test results show the capability of the system and its components. Engine test results for selected combustion concepts further show the potential of hydrogen combustion. In addition, an outlook and test results on Ammonia and Methanol will be provided.
