To contextualize the analysis, I first summarize the COVID-19 pandemic situation in Mexico from the official WHO announcement of the pandemic until the end of my field research in February 2021 under a scope. This chapter focuses on measures and policies implemented by the government to tackle the pandemic in Mexico. Those were applied by different levels of government, such as the federal government, the various state governments, and their municipal entities.
