What is Nature Worth to Children?
摘要
Appreciation, as a component of interest in an object and a positive attitude towards it, is a significant influencing factor for the willingness to engage with an object of interest such as nature, to want to learn about it, and to interact with it joyfully, carefully, and sustainably. There is much debate about whether children show appreciation towards nature. Unlike the data on the positive effects of nature on child development, there is little evidence on children’s appreciation in the sense of pedagogical interest theory. Therefore, the aim of the studies presented here was to investigate whether children aged between three and eight have a positive value attitude towards nature, and how they express this verbally and non-verbally. In addition, factors could be identified that positively influence children’s value attitude towards nature at different levels and can thereby promote interest development and a positive attitude towards nature.
