This dissertation refers to three theories that build its theoretical foundation: organizational legitimacy as part of legitimacy theory, stakeholder theory, and public value theory. Academic research may lack a consistent focus if there is more than one theory included. However, since this dissertation is a monographic illustration of two more extensive constructs, which are stakeholder orientation and public value topic salience, the author considers the consideration of the mentioned theories as a suitable and necessary approach.
