The discussion that Luhmann and Schorr initiated on the issue of the technology deficit in pedagogy some 40 years ago still seems relevant today in light of current developments in early childhood education. I want to take up these arguments, interrogate the ambiguous notion of technology, and find out how it is applied and criticized. In doing so, I will first take up Luhmann’s argumentation, and then consult Heidegger’s reflections on the question of technology in order to critically revise Tenorth’s responses to Luhmann.

摘要

The discussion that Luhmann and Schorr initiated on the issue of the technology deficit in pedagogy some 40 years ago still seems relevant today in light of current developments in early childhood education. I want to take up these arguments, interrogate the ambiguous notion of technology, and find out how it is applied and criticized. In doing so, I will first take up Luhmann’s argumentation, and then consult Heidegger’s reflections on the question of technology in order to critically revise Tenorth’s responses to Luhmann.
