Model Decompositions

In this chapter, we present various model decompositions of the MILP model developed in the previous chapter, which will be utilized within a Benders decomposition algorithm. We begin by analyzing the structure of the MILP model to identify potential decompositions and introduce a modular decomposition strategy based on this analysis. We then propose modifications to the model that aim to enhance the efficiency of Benders cut generation. Finally, we detail specific model decompositions along with valid inequalities and cut strengthening techniques that can be applied in conjunction with these decompositions to improve computational performance during optimization.
