Functional, demographic as well as socio-economic and socio-cultural diversity in cities, in the districts, settlements and quarters can equally trigger impulses for dispute and conflict, but also evoke curiosity for the different and unfamiliar. The likelihood of conflicts occurring is rather given as soon as different interests, feelings, values collide among the involved actors, but also when perceptions of inequality, injustice, disregard, lack of recognition and lack of trust dominate in a community. On the other hand, if basic egalitarian and socio-economically secured structures prevail, curiosity, openness and thirst for knowledge can more easily unfold and provide a constructive explorative social climate.
