“The Settlement”, as it is commonly referred to, is located east of the Hattersheim city center between the railway line and the Südring. 25% of the population from the districts of Hattersheim, Okriftel, and Eddersheim live here. The quarter is characterized by social housing construction from the 1920s, 50s, and 60s. Two- to eight-story residential buildings amidst generous open spaces shape the image. The first settlement houses were built in the post-war period, as the influx of refugees from the East made the creation of new living space indispensable.
