This chapter deals with central sociocultural prerequisites for the growing up of children and adolescents. Starting from social change in modern societies, the growing up of children and adolescents, the living environments of children and adolescents, the change in the education system, as well as the importance of movement, games, and sport in municipal educational landscapes are presented. An excursion to the all-day school in municipal educational landscapes complements the chapter.
