The current era is frequently described as the Anthropocene, the era of the human species. This term does not aim on opening up a new historical era of humankind only, like the medieval ages, but rather addresses geological timespans. The underlying diagnosis is that the human civilization and its impacts have developed to the dominant force on Planet Earth. Traces of human economy and technology can be found everywhere on the Planet, many of them will remain for a long time, justifying the announcement of a new era in geological terms. In this era, the responsibility of humans for the entire Planet and its future dramatically increases. Humans are the only known species which is able to assume overarching responsibility. Therefore, humans are the only ones who can develop the Anthropocene from its current situation, characterized by multiple crises, to a better or even a ‚good‘ Anthropocene.
