History education and historical culture have always been dependent on media. If media change, history therefore also changes. This is especially true with regard to digitality. Digital media affect all ways of dealing with history including research, teaching and learning. Of course this also affects the importance contemporary witnesses have today for our conception of the Nazi dictatorship, of mass violence and how to come to terms with the past almost eighty years after the end of National Socialism. Most recently, technical developments have been dramatic on that field. How can we gauge such and similar media developments in terms of implications for historical narrative and learning?
