This article focuses on the innovative digital interactive interviews conducted by the German Exile Archive 1933–1945 at the German National Library, in collaboration with the USC Shoah Foundation. Highlighting the integration of technology in historical documentation, it showcases two digital eyewitness testimonies of Kurt Salomon Maier and Inge Auerbacher, who experienced persecution, disenfranchisement, deportation, and exile as children during the Nazi regime. These digital testimonies offer interactive experiences that allow visitors to engage in dialogues with history, providing a novel approach to cultural education and political awareness. The project emphasizes the importance of preserving eyewitness accounts for future generations while fostering a deeper understanding of exile and the Holocaust. The exhibit, enriched with graphic novels and interactive elements, invites participants to connect with the eyewitnesses’ stories, explore contemporary issues, and reflect on their own perspectives on history, exile, and identity.
