The limitation of emitted pollutants requires their realistic and comparable measurement. Engine test stands and roller test stands with devices for measuring exhaust gas components are available for this purpose. Thanks to mobile exhaust gas measuring technology, measurements are increasingly being taken on the road. To better understand the defeat devices, the former test procedures, which are relevant in many current civil and criminal proceedings, and the current test procedures are discussed here.
