A prerequisite for a nonetheless safe and accepted traffic environment is an understanding of all agents involved, and humans thereby play a central role. Accordingly, it is expedient to place people at the core of a human-centredHuman-centred development, design and assessment of automation and mobility systems. An approach is described in which the modelling of observable human behaviour in traffic creates a basis for understanding and assessing the traffic situation.
