Hemorrhagic Cystitis in the Critically Ill Cancer Patient
摘要
Hemorrhagic cystitis is a well-recognized complication in cancer patients and can be associated with increased morbidity and mortality. Its main etiologies include alkylating agent-chemotherapies, radiation therapy involving the pelvic area, and infections. Allogeneic stem cell transplant recipients are especially susceptible, due to exposure to conditioning chemotherapy and being at risk for BK virus-related infection, which can be associated with increased non-relapse mortality. In this chapter, we will discuss epidemiology, pathophysiology, treatment, and outcomes related to hemorrhagic cystitis in the cancer population with focus on BK CTL therapy.
