During the fourth week of gestation, the primitive heart tube turns to the right side to set the right ventricle and left ventricle in their positions. Other extracardiac events such as the rotation of the gastrointestinal tract, lung lobes, and spleen formation cause normal asymmetry in both sides of the body. If the arrangement of every organ in the body is normal, it is called situs solitus. We have different laterality defects that occur by the malpositioning of complexes during embryonic development. Total body organs mirror image position called situs inversus; however, only one organ mispositioning such as abdominal or thoracic organs, called heterotaxy or situs inversus thoracalis or abdominalis. For the first time, Alonso et al. (1995) reported an autosomal dominant pattern of laterality defects by presenting 6 families including 18 individuals involved. According to the studies, the prevalence of laterality defects regardless of their inheritance pattern is about 1–9 patients in every 100,000 people (Lin et al. 2014). Diagnosis will be obvious during infancy and neonatal ages (Casey et al. 1996, Vitale et al. 2001, Niikawa et al. 1983).
