Occupational dermatoses in leather manufacturing and leather trade have rarely been reported, except in tanneries and shoe manufacturers in newly developed Asian countries with poor work conditions. Many possible irritants and allergens are concerned, with some of the latter having received much attention in the recent literature because they are also important sensitizing culprits in consumers exposed to leather objects.
