Design Beyond the Problem Space: Anticipatory Design Science
摘要
The focus of Design Science Research on problem solving localizes research to identifiable, present-day problems. Yet the business, societal and environmental impacts of designed artifacts lie somewhere in the future. Moving beyond the artificiality of the artifact can be achieved through anticipatory design using speculative, possible worlds. Possible worlds can be created based on alternative metaphors, assumptions and values and open the design space to evolving artifacts that enable future inhabitants to address their situations, their values and their opportunities. By anticipating design for future situations, we can provide future generations with greater knowledge and an enhanced capacity for experience.
