This study intends to look at the importance of a good performance management system for an organization and how it is linked with other functions like Learning and Development. Best practices from various organizations have been studied and analysed to design a new model of performance management system that can help organizations recognize the high potential employees and employees that are not meeting the performance expectations. This identification can help organizations work towards the retention of the high potential employees through learning and development initiatives and offering them career growth opportunities. At the same time, employees that are not performing can be put on Performance Improvement Programs (PIP) and additional support, if required.
