Dental Considerations in Patients with Vascular Bleeding Disorders
摘要
Vascular bleeding disorders may have oral manifestations, findings that are of considerable diagnostic relevance in dental practice. Recognition of such changes in the oral mucosa is essential for dentists, as the oral cavity can serve as an important site for the initial detection of underlying systemic vascular pathology. A thorough understanding of the etiopathogenesis and clinical presentation of these conditions is essential for planning and providing dental care. This is important not only because of the potential for bleeding tendencies but also because certain disorders, such as Henoch-Schönlein purpura, can be triggered or worsened by poor oral hygiene or dental procedures. This chapter reviews the oral signs of vascular bleeding disorders. It discusses the general principles of dental management in patients with Henoch-Schönlein purpura and the most common hereditary vasculopathy, Osler-Weber-Rendu disease.
