The role of normal hemostasis is to keep the blood in a liquid state, promote proper blood flow within blood vessels, and prevent blood loss under usual conditions while also allowing bleeding to stop when a vessel is injured. Hemostatic disorders can be categorized into two main types: hemorrhagic syndromes and thrombotic disorders. Additionally, these disorders can be classified as either hereditary or acquired. Alternatively, they can be grouped by defect mechanism. Among acquired bleeding disorders, thrombocytopenia is the most common.
