This chapter explores gender inequities within both the nursing profession and patient care. It highlights disparities such as pay gaps, leadership inequities, and gender bias in clinical treatment (e.g., misdiagnosis and undertreatment of women’s health conditions). Intersectionality is emphasized, demonstrating how gender interacts with race, class, and disability to produce layered inequities. The chapter also examines structural contributors, including research bias and workplace policies. It concludes with strategies for promoting gender equity, including policy reform, inclusive education, and leadership diversification.
