Sensitive Information Sharing in Supply Chains to Overcome Shortages: Findings from a Design Study
摘要
The awareness of potential supply chain shortages has been heightened by the news in recent years. If a shortage occurs, companies in a buyer-supplier relationship share sensitive information to mitigate and resolve the shortage. The information shared is often sensitive from a business perspective and companies must ensure not to reveal more information than needed. We employ a design science research study in a long-term and large-scale industrial initiative to address sensitivity concerns in information sharing during a shortage. We define and evaluate sensitivity configurations for information sharing during shortages. To do so, we draw on empirical data from an interview study and experiences of building digital artifacts within the automotive sector, allowing us to explore the correlations between sensitivity associated with sharing information in supply chain shortage situations.
