Technical Protocols of the Phenol–Croton Oil Peel: Skin and Patient Preparation, Safety, Application, and Post-treatment Care
摘要
The performance of phenol–croton oil peeling requires careful patient selection, structured pre-procedure assessment, and a multidimensional approach focused on safety and efficacy. This chapter presents a comprehensive framework for patient evaluation and preparation, integrating dermatological, systemic, nutritional, psychological, and social domains. Detailed guidance is provided on cutaneous and morphofunctional analysis, cardiovascular and metabolic screening, laboratory investigations, and medication review, with particular emphasis on the risk of QT interval prolongation. Nutritional and hydration optimization, skin preconditioning, psychosocial counseling, and standardized photographic documentation are highlighted as fundamental steps to promote tissue repair and minimize complications. The chapter also addresses evidence-based analgesia and sedation protocols, infection prophylaxis, and biosafety measures, including environmental control and safe phenol disposal. By combining technical precision with a patient-centered perspective, the strategies described aim to ensure predictable outcomes, reduce systemic toxicity, and establish phenol–croton oil peeling as a safe and effective therapeutic modality in modern dermatology.
