Transforming Pharmaceutical Care: A Digital Approach to Enhancing Patient Engagement
摘要
Fostering digital health solutions within pharmaceutical care can transform the patient–pharmacist interactions. The study introduces an online tool with a dashboard on patient adherence, alerts to the pharmacist in real time and timelines for therapy, which is not a feature of existing pharmacy IT systems. This study estimates the current levels of IT adoption in pharmacies through an observational study, survey and qualitative interview, and identifies gaps in digital service delivery. An implementation of a prototype system was done for remote patient engagement, medication tracking, etc. According to the findings, there are measurable improvements such as average availability of 38 minutes per pharmacist per day, a 28% increase in patient adherence rates, self-management scores higher than average, etc. These findings exhibit the opportunity for the platform to reshape how community pharmacies are positioned within current health systems as well as provide evidence to inform future policy and practice regarding digital health.
