This chapter wraps up the book by looking ahead. If a whole society shifts to longer lives, what happens to definitions of later life and ageing? How will this greater engagement in older age affect digital technology conceptualisation, design, and use? Where will a repositioning of older adults within a broader ecosystem of more-than-human ageing shape older-adult HCI in the future? How can older-adult HCI research contribute to post-growth development goals (e.g. reduced inequalities, gender equality, sustainable cities, climate action)? This chapter discusses these and other related research questions as an invitation to reflect on possible future research directions.
