Compared with scleral buckling, pars plana vitrectomy follows a more standardized surgical workflow and has a relatively fixed operative pattern, making it easier to perform and teach. Intraocular illumination provides full, clear visualization of nearly all retinal lesions. Through the coordinated use of various intraocular instruments, vitreous can be directly and precisely relieved to liberate the retina.
