Physical Activity in Esports
摘要
Esports, the rising phenomenon of the sports world, leaves players vulnerable to the effects of sedentary behaviors and the associated health risks. This book chapter examines the critical role of physical activity in both optimizing performance and minimizing health risks for esports players. Within the intensity of training and tournament schedules, players face serious issues such as obesity, sleep disorders, musculoskeletal disorders, and mental fatigue. In this context, scientific evidence has shown that regular and structured physical activities protect against postural imbalances, cardiovascular health issues, and metabolic risks caused by a sedentary lifestyle. More importantly, exercise has been demonstrated to directly improve cognitive functions vital for esports performance, such as attention, reaction time, and decision making by improving blood circulation. Consequently, making physical training a routine for esports players is an essential strategy not only for their health but also for gaining an advantage over opponents and ensuring career sustainability.
