Reaction Time and Focus on Esports
摘要
This section demonstrates that, at the core of esports players performance, reaction time and selective attention work together, and this can be developed through gaming practice, expertise, viewing strategies, and technology-assisted training. Top-tier esports players maintain decision accuracy while focusing on critical stimuli with narrower, more efficient gaze patterns. VR-based dynamic tasks reinforce eye-hand coordination, reaction speed, and attention control. EEG findings confirm that attention networks are activated during gameplay. Although different genres (FPS and MOBA) have specific cognitive demands, the ability to process information rapidly is common to all. The reaction speeds of esports players and traditional players are generally similar, but their focus and use of effectors differ. Caffeine may support alertness and tracking accuracy, but it cannot replace structured cognitive-motor training. Taking together, these elements demonstrate that esports is a scientific field in which cognitive performance can be developed in a disciplined manner, not merely gaming practice.
