This introductory chapter describes the history of esports and the basis for its classification as a sport. Certainly, it takes time for a sport to be accepted as a sport and for it to be recognized by the Olympic Committee. Therefore, it is initially emphasized that sport needs to develop, integrate into esports, be analyzed in terms of sports psychology, and then be divided into specific sub-categories and differentiated. It also explains the psychological requirements of esports players at different stages and how these should be addressed using scientific methodology. Furthermore, it presents an understanding of how the group of players we refer to as professional esports players are specifically addressed by professionals, which will form the basis for future studies.
