Putting the Pieces Together: Findings and Prospects
摘要
This chapter summarizes the main findings of the book by reconstructing the contingent articulations between shifts in the intersectional situations of different social groups and their political choices. In the conclusion, I also highlight a few elements that do not fully fit into the analytical framework developed in the book. Particularly challenging to explain are the positioning of Evangelicals, the phenomenon of ontological adhesion to the far right, and the widespread admiration and acceptance of the Brazilian super-rich. I ultimately argue that the struggle between competing discourses to give meaning to both old and new forms of social suffering, as well as to emerging and enduring individual expectations, remains open and unresolved. A Brazil that has always been unequal is now also deeply divided.
